Yesterday, I watched a movie called 'Perfect Sense'. It was a movie about life, human body and how we take it for granted.
How many of us even take notice to the fact that we can see, touch, hear, smell and taste? To the gift of life? I am sure most of us not. The senses makes life rich, special and meaningful. Without any of these, we 'll live a crippled life. We infact live so much in our thoughts, situations and past-future tussle that the present passes unnoticed. The ultimate decision we take in our respective lives is 'not to live'. We need to understand that life is more than the pursuance of wealth, goals, fame, promotions, pleasure and last but not the least expectations. All these achievements are meaningless when one can't see or hear. The best way to find the ultimate answer to the meaning of the life is to ask someone who is dying of an incurable disease.
Yes, no doubt, body is a machine, but God programmed us with feelings, heart and soul. We often forget this and function like real machines, designed to accomplish tasks. Life is meaningless until we take a pause and notice the very essence of the existence.Every single creature made by God has a journey with a purpose. The river flows to serve the humanity, the flowers blooms to nourish our senses, the trees are there to give us Oxygen, the earth gives us food and minerals and so many irreplaceable vitals. The whole earth is designed and loaded with features to benefit and preserve life. Indeed the mechanical and collective greed of humans causing great loss to the benevolence of mother earth.
With every passing second our bodies are decaying and inching towards the end. It is better to start taking notice to our senses, sooner than later.
Few things to start with:
- Appreciate child's play, smile, innocence and way of doing things
- A good look at a flower while observing it's scent, texture & colour
- Every breath as it goes in and comes out for a minimum 5 minutes everyday
- 15 minutes alone everyday to reflect on your life
- Exchange smile with complete stranger
- Offer help
